Apple Cinnamon Apple Swirl Bread

An easy recipe for Cinnamon Apple Swirl Bread that’s loaded with chunks of fresh apple, and filled with a ribbon of cinnamon sugar swirl, this quick bread is a must make fall treat!

Ingredients

Cinnamon Swirl:
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup walnuts*, chopped

Batter:
  • 2 cups flour (1 cup whole wheat pastry and 1 cup all-purpose)
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cup cane sugar
  • 1 cup milk of choice (non-dairy or not)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 tbsp safflower oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup honeycrisp apple, diced small (or apple of choice)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350℉. Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan. In a small bowl, mix together cinnamon swirl ingredients and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt and cane sugar. In a medium sized bowl, whisk together milk, egg, applesauce, oil and vanilla.
  3. Add liquid mixture to flour mixture and gently stir until just combined. Gently fold in the diced apple. Careful not to over mix.
  4. Pour half of the batter into loaf pan. Sprinkle with 2/3 cup of the cinnamon swirl mixture. Pour remaining batter on top of the mixture and spread out using a rubber spatula. top with remaining cinnamon swirl mixture. use a knife to make a large swirl throughout the batter.
  5. Bake for 60-70 minutes, covering loosely with tin foil after 30 minutes to prevent the top from getting too brown. Check if it’s done by inserting a knife in the center of the loaf. Cool in loaf pan before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
